Champ turned 14, on May 16. He is 98 in dog years.:D

He is still doing well but his arthritis is getting worse. He is also retired now.

I keep getting asked when I'm getting a new service dog. But I don't want another dog... I want Champ.

Champ doesn't think he is that old. He still thinks he is 2 or 3 :dft012:

Dogs aren't just equipment you can upgrade, they're companions.

Well said, Pete.

Champ's entitled to think he's 2 or 3. "You're only as old as you feel" applies to dogs too!

Hope your vet's managed to get him some good meds to make him comfortable. The little guy's earned it!

Thanks guys.

But my sad reality is that he is getting old and I have to start thinking of him. He has been having accidents lately. I know I need to be aware of his needs and when he has had enough I need to let him go with dignity.

That is the hardest thing about being a dog or cat owner. That's a tough time, tough decision.

Thanks
I love him with all my heart but I know his time is limited.

The vet thinks that he can make it thru the summer.

We take him to see the vet every 3 weeks. Where he gets an injection for the arthritis, I think it's called "Anaquon" (sp?) It did help to start with but now it only seems to last about 10 days or so.

We see the vet this Saturday. So I have been watching his condition very carefully.

Right now he is laying beside me, on the floor, sleeping. By the way he is sleeping I expect him to start running, in his sleep. He sure is funny when he does that.

Cats and dogs sure are funny when they run, jump and hunt in their sleep!
