I've had enough of these high phone prices, so I have already begun the migration to VoIP with Vonage. But what hesitates me to take the big plunge is a aDSL reliability. So I thought hard about load balancing two internet connections, by adding a Cable modem from Charter (5 meg down, 512k up) for $24.95 a month, along with my aDSL (6 meg down, 512k up) by using a SOHO load balancer.
Now my total internet bill is $70.00 a month, but I've got it all worked out. With the Pep Link 30, you can hook up 3 ISP's, for your WAN, and it load balances, has fail over if one ISP goes down, and always picks the best connection without even a glitch in speed or latency.
This thing is easy to setup, works wonders on P2P, and Unless both ISP's fail, I always have internet.
Why? Vonage is cheap. Really cheap compared to the local telco. I have two phone lines, and every calling feature you could ask for at $50.00 a month. That means $50.00 + $70.00 is $130 a month, not the $243.95 a month my two lines with same features from AT&T cost.
And I've got plenty of upstream bandwidth to use for Vonage.
Here is a pick of the Pep Link 30:
