Christmas isn't too far away..again:dft011: Almost time to get out the decorations and the Christmas tree.

I normally put my tree up on December 1st, it's a lot of fun decorating it. I love the smell of pine on the real Christmas tree's too.
Have you started your christmas shopping yet or completed it?
As for my christmas shopping I have 3 people to get, then I'm done. Got a few cards to do also.
First off IT'S NOT HAPPY HOLIDAYS AROUND HERE! I'm just plain fed up with Political Correctness :034:
I've done all my shopping, except for my sister, and one more gift for Mom. So far I've done everything online, on trusted sites :028:. Amazon.com has great deals, I've bought a Fed-Ex truck full from them, :)
I have one niece, and two nephews. I got each a iPod shuffle, with free engraving from Apple.com, $79.99 each.
Also bought niece a webkins for $15.00, and for the boys, Rock Star III for their PS3. I'm their "manic uncle" LOL.
Anyways, Merry Christmas, and Happy Hanukkah everybody!
i think i deserve a round of applause here. i JUST THIS MINUTE finished my christmas shopping... normally i leave it up to dec 24th or thereabouts... i bought my mum a set of thermal long underwear from new zealand so she can stop borrowing mine every time she goes to a rugby match... and while i was at it, i bought myself a pair of those sheepskin slipper socks... hey, i deserve them. shopping is stressful! last year i swore to myself id be totally finished by the end of november, and i am. i hate hate hate shopping. going to malls for me involves being dragged around glassily, and i can only survive if it goes cafe, shop, cafe, shop, cafe.
oh, just thought you like to know, the irish word for christmas is 'nollaig' which is also the word for 'december'. so... nollaig shona dhuit! ill let you figure out what that means...
I'm afraid i fall into the 'Bah Humbug' group when it comes to Christmas, no tree, no decorations, though i do buy pressies for the relo's and kids. Perhaps it's all that talk of sleighs, snow and drinking egg nog by the fire, it's hard to come to grips with when it's mid summer :) So when your rugged up in your thermal underwear and sheepskin socks trying to keep warm by the fire, gripping your egg nog with your frozen hands, spare a thought for me battling on, in my Tee-shirt and shorts, sitting by the pool with an ice cold beer, quaffing fresh Morton Bay prawns. :D I know, it's a hard life, but us Aussies are tough.
amyk:
Loved the Irish greeting, but those double vowels side by side left my soft palette and tongue with a strain injury when i tried to pronounce them. :), so to you Nollaig Shona agus Athbhliain faoi Mhaise Duit. Google (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=nollaig+shona+dhuit&btnG=Google+Search), is there anything it can't do?.
To Ric, Jenn and everyone else, have a great Christmas, and i hope all your wishes come true.

Pete You never fail to make me laugh :011:. Keep that Fosters cold now!
We heard on Fox news here in the states that Aussie Santa's are to say "Ha, Ha, Ha" instead of "Ho, Ho, Ho" because some women might be offended by Santa saying Ho. Whats up with that?

Our tree is up but not decorated...
As for presents, still too early to start shopping...
I've got plenty of time... :o

I saw that one on the news as well, I think it was one of those 'slow news day', someone made it up and the news room bought it gags, AFAIK Our Santa's are still 'Ho Ho Ho'ing just like they always have. :005:

November here... I've got an entire month! ;) LOL

What's more of a worry is that Ric gets his news from Fox. :(
yes, i fall into the bah humbug catagory myself. im at home know (practice deep breathing...) but when i lived on my own i scruplessly avoided any decorations - though ive never gotten away with not buying presents! i do get to ignore mothers day and all those other "holidays". but my new years resolution last year was to avoid the shopping thing and associated stress, and buy all my presents online by the end of november. the sense of relief is priceless... but wait until i get my visa bill!
when we go to the states, i have to force my dad not to watch foxnews. its bad for his blood pressure. and anyway, i get sick of him alternatively laughing hysterically/shouting at that weirdo. okay, all of them.
christmas's become so commercialized! i wish people didn't forget what christmas really is!

I love this time of year! Though I don't celebrate Christmas officially, I still wish people "Merry Christmas."
My shopping is done, and I cannot wait to see the looks on my friend's faces!

I would be honored. I'll put it in its own little thread later. That way, anybody that wants to chime in, can.
