Yep, I'm giving Safari browser a go on my windows pc, to see how I like it. As it be the browser I have to use if I get an iMac. It's quite a struggle to adjust as I want to keep going back to IE7. The bookmarks seem a bit easier on IE7.

I have a ton of bookmark folders, in those folders I have a ton of links, in IE7 bookmarks. I exported my bookmarks to safari. When I scroll down the safari bookmark folder list, it automatically opens up the folders as I scroll over them, meaning I can't get back to the bookmark area. So I re click bookmark and try again.

What I have now done, is move the certian bookmark folders I go into everyday into Bookmark Bar and that's alot easier, as I'm not scrolling through 20 or so folders which open up. If I need to get into a bookmark folder I don't use much, I still can but via the massive folder list.

Is there any colour theme's to safari? mine's just a dull grey, no green/red colours for the back forward buttons.

I also miss the way IE7 opens tabs, you just click on the end of one tab and another tab opens. On safari, you have to right click on the current tab and click Open new tab. Just makes browsing slower lol

One other thing I wish safari has, is how you can click on the back button and a drop down list comes out so you can also choose what page to go back too, if it;s not the page you just been on. I could choose 5 pages back if I needed too.

It also seems to be a bit slower than IE7, but I have only used it all day today.

Where in safari prefences or any where else, that you delete temp files, cookies etc. I've only seen 'Empty cache' under Edit and 'Clear History' under History

I admit Safari does have a bit of a learning curve if you have grown used to IE. I use Firefox myself and the huge benefit to that is that the UI in Firefox is common on every computing platform. You can also apply themes to it if you wish.

Also, to be perfectly honest, I use Firefox more than Safari even on my Mac or my Windows machines over Internet Explorer. It's more secure, and the extensions you can apply to Firefox just make the browser so much better than I ever thought.

(I used to be an IE diehard until I promised a friend I would try Firefox for a week... I never went back afterwards... :) )

I have used Safari for a week, now to try FireFox again.

I like the bookmarks in firefox (similar to IE) and I like how the back button has a drop down list for me to choose which page I want to go back too.

The tab opening is the same on safari so that's no change, but something I will need to get used too.

Think firefox is better over safari for me so far, that's more similar to IE7.

Hey Ric, if your reading this, you are probably going yay Jenn might get to finally use firefox:p even though you have switched to Safari now

In Fiefox, I find the middle button click over a link, to open in a new tab, to be great.

i have safari, and when i click and hold on the back or forward arrows, i get that quick list youre talking about on ie - but maybe its a bit different on the mac os. also, i have a full preferences pop-up in the safari menu - no idea what the windows equivalent is. and i use keystrokes more than i use the mouse for things like opening tabs, windows, etc... on the mac, its command (squiggly thing beside the spacebar, used to be called 'open apple' i think) 't' to open a tab and select it. i think windows does it with ctrl/t. ctrl/w to close it. ctrl/l to highlight location bar.
