Got new batteries yesterday and after speaking with Todd at IIM he made it sound like a piece of cake..Started at 10 AM..Took out the front seat bolts and raised seat..Put in front battery..Took out the 2 front bolts that hold seat frame let seat back down and went to the back and took out the 2 rear frame bolts. ready to slide frame forward to put in rear battery. Then came glitch #1..Frame wont slide forward with front battery installed! Went back to the front and removed front battery AARRGGHH..Now came time to slide frame forward to get to the rear battery box..Easier said than done. After pulling and pushing with no luck I stopped popped a brewski and lit a cig and sat back and evaluated the situation..Time for round 2..Went to front and lifted seat frame and pulled and it came loose, pulled it forward until rear battery box was clear and put in rear battery. Now all I needed to do was slide frame back into place and put in the front battery..Now came glitch #2..Rear slots on frame have to line up exactly with the studs they slide over..I spent over an hour going from front to back setting wedges etc. to keep it in place so it will slide into the slots! 2 person job if ever there was one but it was only me..Finally got it to go and went to the front and put in front battery..Bolted everything back up, looked at watch and it was 5 o'clock!
Woke up this morning and every muscle in my body was screaming! Took 2 Vicaden and laid in bed 'till they took affect so I could get up!!Can't wait 'till the next time!!
New tires coming this week so get to have some more kicks and giggles!!

I've had the seat removed the seat from my second X5 and used it as a fish fighting chair. real comfy. ;)

Removing the seat is possible for one set of hands but definitely easier with two.

Just looking at that serious collection of rods you have against the wall there wired - do you have a bullbar on the front of your chair to mount them all in??? ;)

Pete,

After reading keepitrollin's 7 hour "adventure", I'd just tootle down to the powerchair trader there and trade up to a chair with new batteries already installed!

Hmm, imagining an idea for a new business here speaking of a power chair trader. Do such places exist?

Can just see the crowds flocking there with their able-bodied assistants kicking a few tyres. Imagine the sale's pitches, "Yes, and this red mid-wheeled number was only used by a little old lady to go to church on Sundays...."

I am glad to find out how hard it is to change batteries in my X5.

I do know that NAPA carries the sealed batteries for my chair. Wonder if they would put them in for me.:022:
