I just came into 2 new power chairs {traded my 18ft allumimum ramp for them} and they REEK of cigar smoke.
I'm allergic to smoke, so I'm trying to figure out the best and fastest way to get the smell out of them!
any idea would be great - so far we're trying coffee grounds, hot vinegar and baking soda.

They actually make a product that is an eliminator not a masker...... I simply cannot remember the name of the product at the moment .....I believe wal-mart is one of the companies that stocks it.It does away with the odor ,unlike freebreeze and a few others that do smell nice, however they just mask the odor ,they do not eliminate it.

is it odorcide? I used to get that at walmart years ago and it worked wonderful - smelled semi-sweet roll ish.
I can't seem to find that anymore arond here - but it would be perfect!
i agree with ric.... fabreeze eliminates odors like smoke really well!

Can you remove the upholstery and wash it really good? Chances are the fabric is what is holding in the smell. If not try Odoban wiping it down several times. Cigarette smoke/smell is pretty nasty but Cigar smoke/smell is worse. I'd leave them outside if possible as well to 'air out'

While I was reading this thread, the thought came across my mind to contact a used car dealer and talk to somebody in vehicle prep. I don't know if they have or know of anything but the used cars I've been in on a dealer lot generally have a pleasing smell to the interior. Worth a shot, anyway.
Best wishes to you on achieving a successful method to remove the smell! Dave

It seem I am allergic to everything here is something you might try? http://www.zeocrystal.com/
I have not tried it but came across it when searching. I sometimes have to leave things outside for six month to a year before I can use them. i just purchased a used powerchair that I can't get within 50 feet of and it been outside for three months?? So if this works let me know.
I used to buy something in a gel form used to get smell out of burnt homes but I could not find it but I'll keep looking. GOOD LUCK! Rev Wheeler
